20231215 Fri 잠언 25:1~13

1 이것도 솔로몬의 잠언이요 유다 왕 히스기야의 신하들이 편집한 것이니라

2 일을 숨기는 것은 하나님의 영화요 일을 살피는 것은 왕의 영화니라

3 하늘의 높음과 땅의 깊음 같이 왕의 마음은 헤아릴 수 없느니라

4 은에서 찌꺼기를 제하라 그리하면 장색의 쓸 만한 그릇이 나올 것이요

5 왕 앞에서 악한 자를 제하라 그리하면 그의 왕위가 의로 말미암아 견고히 서리라

6 왕 앞에서 스스로 높은 체하지 말며 대인들의 자리에 서지 말라

7 이는 사람이 네게 이리로 올라오라고 말하는 것이 네 눈에 보이는 귀인 앞에서 저리로 내려가라고 말하는 것보다 나음이니라

8 너는 서둘러 나가서 다투지 말라  마침내 네가 이웃에게서 욕을 보게 될 때에 네가 어찌할 줄을 알지 못할까 두려우니라

9 너는 이웃과 다투거든 변론만 하고 남의 은밀한 일은 누설하지 말라

10 듣는 자가 너를 꾸짖을 터이요 또 네게 대한 악평이 네게서 떠나지 아니할까 두려우니라

11 경우에 합당한 말은 아로새긴 은쟁반에 금사과니라

12 슬기로운 자의 책망은 청종하는 귀에 금 고리와 정금 장식이니라

13 충성된 사자는 그를 보낸 이에게 마치 추수하는 날에 얼음 냉수 같아서 능히 그 주인의 마음을 시원하게 하느니라

 

1 These are more proverbs of Solomon, copied by the men of Hezekiah king of Judah:

2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.

3 As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable.

4 Remove the dross from the silver, and out comes material for the silversmith;

5 remove the wicked from the king's presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness.
 
6 Do not exalt yourself in the king's presence, and do not claim a place among great men;

7 it is better for him to say to you, "Come up here," than for him to humiliate you before a nobleman. What you have seen with your eyes

8 do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame?

9 If you argue your case with a neighbor, do not betray another man's confidence,

10 or he who hears it may shame you and you will never lose your bad reputation.
 
11 A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

12 Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man's rebuke to a listening ear.

13 Like the coolness of snow at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the spirit of his masters.

2 It is the glory of God that a matter is hidden, but the glory of kings is that it searches.

3 As the height of the heavens and the depths of the earth, so the heart of the king is unsearchable.

4 Remove the dross from the silver, so that there may be vessels fit for the work of a craftsman.

5 Remove the wicked from before the king, and his throne will be established in righteousness.

6 He must not exalt himself before the king and stand in the place of great men.

7 For it is better for someone to say to you, ‘Come up here,’ than for a nobleman whom you see to say, ‘Go down there.’

8 Do not rush out to fight, lest you know what to do when you see your neighbor reproaching you.

9 If you quarrel with your neighbor, only argue, but do not reveal other people’s secrets.

10 I am afraid that those who hear will rebuke you, and that a bad report about you will not leave you.

11 A word fit for the occasion is like apples of gold on a tray of inlaid silver.

12 The rebuke of the wise is a gold ring and an ornament of fine gold on the ears of obedience.

13 Like ice-cold water in the day of harvest, a faithful messenger is able to refresh his master's heart to those who send him.
